FAQs
What is therapy?
Therapy (also called counseling or psychotherapy) is a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and challenges with a trained professional. It’s a collaborative process focused on your goals for healing, growth, and emotional well-being.
How can therapy help me?
Therapy can help you:
Understand and manage anxiety, depression, or stress
Heal from past trauma or grief
Improve relationships and communication
Build coping skills and self-esteem
Navigate life transitions
How long will I need to be in therapy?
The length of therapy depends on your needs and goals. Some people come for a few months to work through specific issues, while others choose ongoing support. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust treatment as needed.
What happens in the consultation?
The consultation is a chance to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your reasons for coming to therapy, consents, availability, your goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. It’s also a time for you to decide if you feel comfortable working with me.
What’s your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session within same week. Late cancellations are subject to a full session fee unless otherwise discussed with therapist.
Is everything I say in therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy stays private, with a few legal exceptions. We’ll review confidentiality in more detail during your first session.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept Aetna and Cigna. For out-of-network insurances we can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.
If you’re unsure about your insurance coverage, I recommend calling your provider to ask about mental health benefits and possible copays.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We only provide online (telehealth) sessions at this time.
How often will I have sessions?
Most people start with weekly or biweekly sessions. Frequency can be adjusted based on availability, goals, and progress.
